I pray this devotional finds you safe and warmed following such a huge outpouring from God. Following are a mix of verses from God’s Word where He specifically talks about SNOW. You may feel like you have had enough SNOW for now, but look into some things we should be mindful of every time we see the SNOW.
Job 37:6 “For to the snow He says, ‘Fall on the earth,’ And to the downpour and the rain, ‘Be strong.’
Our strength is put in its place when we are shut down by the strength of a blizzard from the Lord.
Proverbs 26:1
“Like snow in summer and like rain in harvest, So honor is not fitting for a fool.”
Just like we would be shocked if it snowed in the summertime, fools(those who are not teachable) will not receive honor.
2 Samuel 23:20
“Then Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, the son of a valiant man of Kabzeel, who had done mighty deeds, killed the two sons of Ariel of Moab. He also went down and killed a lion in the middle of a pit on a snowy day.”
Even back in Israel’s day snow created tougher conditions but perseverance was still a characteristic valued by God in man.
Isaiah 55:10-11
“For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven, And do not return there without watering the earth And making it bear and sprout, And furnishing seed to the sower and bread to the eater; So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth; It will not return to Me empty, Without accomplishing what I desire, And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.”
It may not seem like it at times, but God has a determined purpose for the snow just as He has for the Word of God that is being sown into your life.
Job 38:22 “Have you entered the storehouses of the snow, Or have you seen the storehouses of the hail.”
God is in control. Man studies the amazing intelligent design of God in this world and in His creation and often only to kiss Him completely.
Revelation 1:14 “His head and His hair were white like white wool, like snow; and His eyes were like a flame of fire.”
Daniel 7:9 “I kept looking Until thrones were set up, And the Ancient of Days took His seat; His vesture was like white snow And the hair of His head like pure wool His throne was ablaze with flames, Its wheels were a burning fire.
John and Daniel’s visions of Jesus in heaven spoke of his image as white as snow. Look at the snow and imagine the whiteness of snow and His eyes like flames of fire. It will work in you the fear of the Lord.
Psalm 51:7 “Purify me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.”
Possibly the greatest verse where God reminds us that our spiritual cleanness is as white as snow. Though we may feel so blemished at times God through the cross has thoroughly and completely cleansed us.
Enjoy the snow!
By His Spirit,
Pastor Bill
