Walk In The Spirit & Put The Flesh In Its Place

1 Samuel 16:7 “But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.”

God has moved on when it comes to ministry. Saul had chosen to not humble his heart before the Lord and now God’s messenger Samuel is sent to an pint David as king.

Interesting to note, not David’s dad, nor his brothers and not even Samuel the prophet saw in David what God saw. Here, the Lord tells Samuel how He sees things… not the outward but God sees the inward… the heart.

Heart is used in Scripture as the most comprehensive term for the authentic person. It is the part of our being where we desire, deliberate, and decide. It has been described as “the place of conscious and decisive spiritual activity,” “the comprehensive term for a person as a whole; his feelings, desires, passions, thought, understanding and will,” and “the center of a person. The place to which God turns.”

Have you come to realize that God is more interested in your heart that how people perceive you? Have you come to God honestly and asked Him to purify your heart? Has your heart become hardened?

It’s been said, “If you live in a graveyard too long you stop crying when someone dies.” Today, ask God to do a new work in your heart. Ask Him to change your heart to purify it and to take any part of your heart that’s like stone and once again soften it for His purposes and plans.

By His Spirit,
