Matthew 2:2 “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East and have come to worship Him.”
What is Christmas all about? Do you see the Christmas season through a lens of you getting what you want? Do you see Christmas for what it is… a celebration of Jesus’ birthday? If you o, what does Jesus want for His birthday?
In the scripture before us… Magi… whom we call Wise Men come from the East. These men, not three like we sing, but more likely 300 come from Babylon… modern day Iraq because they were seeking to worship the REAL KING. This is what a birthday present for Jesus looks like… Men, women, children, grandmothers and grandmothers, neighbors and coworkers, sisters and brothers… coming to Jesus and turning their hearts over to Him and coming to worship Him.
Christmas time for the child of God is fishing season. Maybe your not a fishermen… then its hunting season. I cannot think of a better way to put this than by pointing you to the old Looney Toons cartoon. You remember it, Bugs Bunny & Daffy Duck are approached by Elmer Fudd the hunter. Now he has a double barrel shot gun and he’s ready to use it. First he sees Bugs and he’s ready to fire but Bugs convinces him it s duck season. When Daffy hears this he comes out arguing and now Elmer is terribly confused. The argument goes back and forth, “Its rabbit season, no duck season… rabbit season, no duck season… on and on it goes until Bugs switches to saying, it’s rabbit season,” and its there that Daffy exclaims out with all his heart…. “It’s duck season!!!” With that Elmer Fudd turns the shotgun to Daffy and fires… blowing Daffy’s bill around his head like a carousel. It’s the best!
Are you this season wanting to get Jesus a present that will truly bless His heart? What is His desire?
2 Peter 3:9 “God is not slow concerning His promise, but desires that all men would be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth.”
You see, at Jesus’ actual birth Magi from the east were drawn to Him, shepherds opened their hearts towards Him and now… roughly 2,000 years later… Jesus is desiring that we would bring Him gifts of our hearts to worship, but also that we would bring others towards Him… point in His direction and tell them… that’s Jesus… He’s the One that I’ve been telling you about… He can save you! He loves you! He’s the One you have been looking for! Give Jesus a gift this year He’ll never forget… your heart… your friends… your family… BE BLESSED THIS CHRISTMAS SEASON!
