“Give Blessings For Evil & Get Blessed”

“Not returning evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary blessing, knowing that you were called to this, that you may inherit a blessing.” 1 Peter 3:9

What an amazingly challenging scripture from the Holy Spirit here. Let’s look at this verse in other versions and just take a moment and ask the Holy Spirit what this means to me. From the (NIV) “Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing.” / (NLT) “Don’t repay evil for evil. Don’t retaliate with insults when people insult you. Instead, pay them back with a blessing. That is what God has called you to do, and he will bless you for it.”

Here we see plainly what Peter is saying, a man who was no stranger of speaking when he should have been silent. He tells us here that as believers, who are seeking to please the Lord, there WILL BE INSULTS. There WILL BE EVIL THAT OTHERS DO TO YOU. There WILL BE PERSECUTION. But how does the Spirit of God tell us to respond? Not repaying evil for evil but repaying the insults with blessings. What is marvelous victory God shows us is possible if we would walk in the Spirit? I encourage you to walk in and with the Holy Spirit today and receive the blessings promised.

F.E. Marsh has enumerated some of God’s blessings:
An acceptance that can never be questioned. (Ephesians 1:6).
An inheritance that can never be lost (I Peter 1:3-5).
A deliverance that can never be excelled (2 Corinthians l:10).
A grace that can never be limited (2 Corinthians 12:9).
A hope that can never be disappointed. (Hebrews 6:18, 19).
A bounty that can never be withdrawn. (I Colossians 3:21-23).
A joy that need never be diminished (John 15:11).
A nearness to God that can never be reversed (Ephesians 2:13).
A peace that can never be disturbed (John 14:27).
A righteousness that can never be tarnished (2 Corinthians 5:21).
A salvation that can never be canceled (Hebrews 5:9).

I pray that you believer would realize that you are God’s temple and that He is living not just with you but within you by His Spirit.

By His Spirit,
