John 14:1-3 “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.”
Over 20 years ago I was introduced to the teaching ministry of a Calvary Chapel pastor named Jon Courson. Since then what a blessing he and the work of God through His life has been in my life and the ministry God has called me to.
If you are not aware of his story, early in his life and ministry the Lord took his wife and daughter home to heaven. Through all of that I have not seen Jon Courson blink in his love and service to the Lord. Just recently his oldest son, Peter Jon passed away leaving behind his wife and 4 daughters. Please pray for all of this family. If you have had loved ones pass from this life into heaven you can relate. Paul talks of God’s comfort in 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.” Pray for God’s comfort, power and even joy in the midst of all of this trial for the Courson family.
Jesus, in speaking with His disciples spoke to them about the REALITY of heaven saying, “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
In J Packer’s book, “Your Father Loves You,” he says, “We know very little about heaven, but I once heard a theologian describe it as “an unknown region with a well-know inhabitant,” and there is not a better way to think of it than that. Richard Baxter expresses the thought in these lines: My knowledge of that life is small, The eye of faith is dim, But it’s enough that Christ knows all, And I shall be with him. To those who have learned to love and trust Jesus, the prospect of meeting him face to face and being with him forever is the hope that keeps us going, no matter what life may throw at us. May God give you grace this week and cause you to LIFT YOUR EYES AND MIND TO YOUR REAL HOME… HEAVEN.
By His Spirit,
Pastor Bill
