“And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light.” 2 Corinthians 11:14
When you read scriptures like this which refer to Satan as a real being what do you think? Do you realize that many of your conflicts and difficulties are stirred up by the enemy of your faith?
Thomas Brooks explains the basis of the enemy this way:
“Satan promises the best, but pays with the worst;
he promises honor and pays with disgrace;
he promises pleasure and pays with pain;
he promises profit and pays with loss;
he promises life and pays with death.”
Now, many of us when thinking of the enemy think of what may be the most grotesque and terrifying being imaginable, but that couldn’t be farther from the truth. If Satan were to reveal himself to you, he would be a being beyond beauty and attraction. Satan, when deceiving Eve did not come shooting fire out of his nose and with redness in his eyes. He wooed her. Seduced and deceived. So too, he desires to do to you and do to me. Dear brothers and sisters, keep your eyes and your heart on Jesus. Proverbs 4:23 “Keep your heart with all diligence for out of it flows the issues of life.”
