What Part Does Prayer Play In Your Life?

Over the past two months, we have been focusing on prayer as a church. I love what C.S. Lewis says about prayer here: “The moment you wake up each morning, all your wishes and hopes for the day rush at you like wild animals. And the first job each morning consists in shoving it all back; in listening to that other voice, taking that other point of view, letting that other, larger, stronger, quieter life come flowing in.” It’s so important in your walk with the Lord that you don’t let the fears, anxieties and struggles of the day overwhelm you in your daily life. Jesus, responsible for so much when it comes to the destiny of humanity, prayer, prayed, and then he prayed some more. Jesus set an example for you and I of how to pray, when to pray, and even why to pray.

When we pray, remember:
1. The love of God that wants the best for us.
2. The wisdom of God that knows what is best for us.
3. The power of God that can accomplish it.
Don’t give up today? Walk forward in your walk with the Lord through prayer. Will you open the door of your life today to the Lord through prayer?

Early African converts to Christianity were earnest and regular in private devotions. Each one reportedly had a separate spot in the thicket where he would pour out his heart to God. Over time the paths to these places became well worn. As a result, if one of these believers began to neglect prayer, it was soon apparent to the others. They would kindly remind the negligent one, “Brother, the grass grows on your path.”

Don’t let your path to prayer get neglected. Today, run to the Lord and talk to Him. He’s waiting for you.

By His Spirit,
Pastor Bill
