Humility Your Greatest Weapon

1 Samuel 18:23 “And David said, “Does it seem to you a light thing to be a king’s son-in-law, seeing I am a poor and lightly esteemed man?”

Do you think great thoughts concerning yourself? Are you interested in building your own self esteem or are you more determined to find out God’s thoughts towards you?

In the story before us, David, was on the receiving end of some mischievous manipulation and he had the same decision before him that often faces us: will we scheme and plot in return or will we walk humbly before our God? Humility is your greatest weapon!

George Washington Carver, the scientist who developed hundreds of useful products from the peanut said: “When I was young, I said to God, ‘God, tell me the mystery of the universe.’ But God answered, ‘That knowledge is reserved for me alone.’ So I said, ‘God, tell me the mystery of the peanut.’ Then God said, ‘Well, George, that’s more nearly your size.’ And he told me.”

Have you come to realize who you are and who GOD is? Listen to these words that David penned as a song to our God, Psalm 8:3-4 “When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers,The moon and the stars, which You have ordained, What is man that You are mindful of him,And the son of man that You visit him?”

What about you today? Do you have a who am I heart or are you more inclined to say, ‘do you know who I am?’ Humility is your greatest weapon and may you learn by God’s Spirit to walk humbly before your God regardless of how others may treat you or whatever circumstances may rise against you.
As Dwight L Moody once said, “Be humble or you’ll stumble.”
